With an empty bowl and crushed water-bottles sitting around me I start my first blog post. This mundane setting is the root of my creativity and my battles with the canvas.
It irks me when I see professional art influencers promoting materials because art is not about the total price sum of your Copic collection, nor is it how much your Wacom Cintiq cost... art is focusing on what the mind can do when given the beauty of freedom. I firmly believe that there is no measuring "talent" in visual art, all of it stems from one's practice and self-enjoyment.
My first value: Artists should not compare themselves to each other. There is no way to define what is "good" art. Yes, there may be good skill and paintings that evoke exceptional emotion, but it is all in perspective. Realism is not the only standard for artists, in fact, I find realism to be boring. Why replicate a still life exactly when you can add the element that makes the piece "your" art?
